Från och med den 25 maj 2018 är det GDPR – General data protection regulation – som slår fast reglerna för all form av behandling av information som direkt eller indirekt kan knytas till en person. GDPR implementerades i maj 2018, och även om det är en relativt kort tid som gått så är trenden både vad gäller antalet anmälda incidenter och bötesbeloppen stigande. Totalt har 272,5 miljoner euro utfärdats i böter sedan GDPR rullades ut.
