(NYSE: PX), a leading global supplier of carbon dioxide (CO 2) and other industrial gases, has completed its acquisition of Yara International ASA’s (Yara) European CO 2 business. Praxair also finalized the acquisition of Yara’s remaining 34% stake in the Yara Praxair Holding AS industrial gas joint venture.

The targeted annual carbon dioxide (CO2) reductions from the project would be equivalent to emissions from more than 300,000 fossil fuel passenger cars, it said. “Provided that power is available at the site and the required public co-funding is in place, the project could be realized within 5-7 years,” it said. Production, transportation and use of mineral fertilizers contribute directly and indirectly to emissions of greenhouse gases, notably carbon dioxide (CO2) and nitrous oxide (N2O).
